What they don’t tell you about iPods

This is the one reason why iPods and iTunes SUCK BIG TIME.
I’m really doubting if my next mp3 player will be another ipod. I just want a player that allows me to use its hardrive like a hardrive, just upload as many files as I can to it from whatever computer, not having to deal with a stupid itunes library
I use my cell phone as an mp3 player, so I’ve never had to deal with that kind of shit.
It uses miniSD memory cards, so it’s a essentially like a USB drive. No DRM, no restrictions, just drag & drop.
iPod is high quality hardware, but some things are really a pain in the ass.
Steve! hurry up with that no-DRM stuff!
Man don’t buy an ipod ever again. I have a first generation shuffle and NOBODY (even apple) told me that if i plug an old shuffle with a pc with iTunes 7, the shuffle will die forever.
It’s called error 1418 and if you contact apple to ask for a solution, they will ignore you.
According to my fiance, you can actually have the ipod connect to several computers, but you have to turn off the syncing. This tells me two things:
1) iTunes SUCKS because they didn’t give me an option or tell me on that message box that I had an option other than erasing all my music…
2) iTunes and the iPod firmware suck balls since it cannot keep two iTunes DBs in sync.
I also know that if I try to plug the ipod to an XP machine, I have to format it. Sucks balls.
I wonder how the Creative players are doing now, maybe there’s something a little more open in the way that it handles file formats out of the box (like .ogg)
